ABOUT US
Lisbon Regional School's Distance Learning Program started in 2009. The program developed due to students needing more course options to enrich and advance learning as well as to meet graduation requirements. With the advent of the program, which has had many positive changes over the years, students can enroll in rigorous online classes, courseware, and videoconference courses. The program continues to grow with students now having 600 plus online course options. The web based courses are accessible from anywhere, 24/7, as long as students have access to the Internet. Most online courses are teacher facilitated by highly qualified teachers. With blended learning course activities, students not only learn engaging content, but they learn many 21st century skills. In addition, the Distance Learning Program offers teachers and students rich educational content through videoconference programs as well as valuable educational resources like the school wide subscription to Discovery Education. Beyond the program, students can also enroll in two face-to-face (f2f) courses: Game Design and Development and 21st Century Technologies.
The Distance Learning Program is now an integral part of Lisbon Regional School's course offerings. It is an innovative program created to meet student needs, while improving and advancing student learning. Recognizing the importance of the skills students learn and retain through online courses, we now require every high school student to enroll in an online course as a graduation requirement. This further prepares students for college, the workforce, and lifelong learning. Lisbon Regional School’s vision for the Distance Learning Program is to continue to give students the best learning opportunities available to them, which will help students become successful and productive citizens.
