What is Videoconference?
A dictionary definition of videoconference is, "a set of telecommunication technologies which allow two or more locations to communicate by simultaneous two-way video and audio transmissions". However, the K-12 videoconference program at Lisbon Regional School is much more than a definition. Videoconference provides Lisbon Regional School students and staff with meaningful educational experiences that are global in nature.
With each passing year, as videoconference technologies continue to improve and more engaging educational content becomes available to teachers, students are increasingly participating in programs that bring educational specialists and content right to Lisbon Regional School classrooms. Students and teachers eagerly look forward to videoconferencing events. Learning content, while demonstrating critical thinking, problem solving, communication, presentation, listening, and etiquette skills, students not only interact with educational specialists from anywhere in the world, but they also interact with their global peers in a safe and productive environment. Through videoconference technology, students are learning valuable educational content in all subject areas, and they are even producing videoconference content to audiences like the pediatric patients at St. Joseph's Hospital. Teachers and students collaborate and cooperate within a global community.
